The
path of rectitude is in fact one of the guidelines set by the elders
for making us move on the right path. By following them, we reach
God who is an embodiment of righteousness. We should not perform
duties mechanically, simply because we are asked to do them or under
compulsion. A doctor must cheer up the patient while treating. Among
several people, those addicted to bad habits, the sick and the sinners
used to come to Baba. He used to fondly scold and guide them on
the right path. But Baba never used to fly into temper or abused
them. We should also condone the short-comings of others, reassure
them and provide them with required strength and support for living
honestly. For doing so, we need a love-filled heart. Mere will to
help others is not suffice.
Baba would not excuse the arrogance of a devotee, however honest
he might be, if he insults people and commit mistakes. By the power
of His blessings, Baba would uplift true devotees who, despite making
several mistakes, pray sincerely, "Baba! Please forgive my
mistakes". We have to shed our ego and always pray to Sai.
We should take refuge in Him. We must give up narrow feelings of
"I", "Mine" and start thinking "We"
and "Ours". Arrogance is a huge wall that obstructs a
devotee from reaching the Abode of Baba.
